Kevin Ashman

Kevin Ashman from Winchester, Hampshire is widely regarded as the best quiz player in the United Kingdom, and as such, is the favourite for just about every quiz competition he enters. His domination in quiz is likened to that of Marion Tinsley in draughts.
He works as a question setter on Brain of Britain under the name Jorkins, and as a pannelist on Eggheads having previously been a civil servant working for the Culture, Media and Sport department.
He has won Brain of Britain and Mastermind where he holds the record score of 41 for both rounds.
Kevin competes in the Quiz League of London, regarded as one of the toughest leagues in the country, and the team he plays for (Allsorts) won the championship six times in 1998 & 1999 and 2003-2006. In addition, he has won the Brain of London title eight times.
In 2005 he won the top prize in the stage show version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire using only the 50:50 lifeline in the process.

After appearing in the first ever grand final of Fifteen to One, Kevin went on to become champion in series 3. He also won the Fifteen to One Millennium Quiz, shown on Christmas day 1999, only getting one question wrong throughout the whole programme.
In the final stages of this competition, Kevin recorded one of the best interruptions in the history of the show.
William G. Stewart: 'Ships and the Sea, When it was comissioned by the Royal Navy in 1906'
Kevin Ashman: [Buzz]
William G. Stewart: 'Kevin?'
Kevin Ashman: 'Dreadnought' (said quickly and slightly out of breath)
William G. Stewart: 'Wow!... It's name meaning Fear Nothing'
This response not only shows Kevin's ability in terms of spped, but is an example of how he uses dates and chronology as a framework for remembering facts.
