John George

A herald (full title: Garioch Pursuivant to the Earldom of Mar) who appeared on Mastermind in 1978, taking 'The Papal Conclaves 1799-1878' as his subject. He took to compiling general knowledge questions for the programme and proved to be the most prolific compiler ever - about 2,000 of his questions were used, and he also compiled some specialised subject questions on heraldry. John was briefly Acting President of the Mastermind Club until ill-health forced his resignation.
