Malcolm Robertson
A composer from Lowestoft, Suffolk, who appeared on Mastermind in 1989. He scored 19 on his subject, 'The Music of Aaron Copland', and went on to win the heat. Apparently he was not put off by an amusing slip of the tongue by Magnus Magnusson in his general knowledge round, in which Magnus attributed a quotation in Shakespeare's Hamlet to 'Hamlet's father, Polonius' (Hamlet's father only appears in the play as a ghost!). Malcolm offered 'The Life and Works of Ralph Vaughan Williams' in his semi-final, which he lost to Tom Bean.
