Fifteen-to-One - Playing
At Home

How you play Fifteen to One at home really depends on whether you are on your own, or in a group. There are various methods that are slightly more sophisticated than simply shouting the answers out.
1) If you're on your own, pick a number from 1 to 15, and see how you would do if you were that contestant. With some paper, you can write down all the numbers and see how you would do, whatever number you were given. After round 1 (when this system may not be possible), or throughout the whole quiz, mark down the number of answers you would have got, against the number that you wouldn't. Try and improve your proportion each day.
2) When playing in a group, produce a tally chart for each of the players, the person who shouts out the correct answer first scores the point. (For obvious reasons, you will need to make it a rule that only first answers can be accepted).
3) Another way to gain a point when playing in a group is to: Spot the previous winner. The name will be announced just after the opening credits, just add one to their score if anyone gets it right.
Tips
1) Try and offer an answer for every question, even if it is just a guess to give yourself a chance.
2) Note the way questions are structured, e.g. a question that starts: "the towns of..", will probably be asking for the county. Jump in (lightning fast) when you think you know the answer.
3) Say your answers confidently (even if they are guesses). With any luck, your opponent(s) will think you know the answer and won't bother to guess themselves.
4) Remember that the first thing that comes into your head will quite often be right.
5) If a question begins "In which British city / county..." it's normally refering to somewhere in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
