Fifteen-to-One - Quiz 2000
The results are in for the 15 question quiz to test of how closely you watched 15 to 1 in 2000.
The winner, to be announced at the end of this page is the first site quiz champion!
We'll start by going through the questions and answers so you can get an idea of how well you did!
1. What is Gavin Hodgson's profession?
A. Musician
Comments. The only question everyone gets a 'ding' for. Sorry, no bonus points, but well done if you remembered his instrument was the bass guitar.
2. What was different about Eddie Colins' profession when he made his return visit after making the final 3 in the Christmas 1999 grand final?
A. He went from being an Accountant to being an Unemployed Accountant.
Comments. No points for retired accountantant, but still, just under half the entries got marks for this one.
3. What was the answer to the last question in Daphne Fowler's 383 score?
A. Kent
Comments. No correct entries for this one. Incorrect responses included: The Mousetrap, Weston-super-mare (they were eariler) and Cornwall - often a good guess for a counties question.
4. What football team does Peter Effer support?
A. Aston Villa
Comments. No correct answers for this one either, surprising considering it was mentioned in two shows. The fact he's from Walthamstow caused many to guess it might have been a London club.
5. What was the last answer given by Matti Watton in his 312 score?
A. Potato
Comments. Answered correctly by two entrants, with guesses or 'no clue' answers form everyone else.
6. Who stood in the middle of the final three in the grand final Les Arnott won?
A. Phil Waldock
Comments. A 50-50 question if you didn't have a clue, and visited the page. Interestingly, about half the entrants submitted correct answers to this one.
7. What was Daphne Fowler's only wrong answer in her 383 performance?
A. Venn Diagram
Comments. Around half correct again, and particularly memorably because it was a picture question.
8. Who was the last player to sit down in round two of the Christmas grand final?
A. Peter Effer
Comments. No, sory, a 'buzz' goes to all of you for this one. Everyone put the same answer for this - Michael Penrice. Although he was the last out in round two, you can see clearly if you watch the show again, that he was not the last to 'sit down'. Assuming round 2 is finished when William G. Stewart closes for the break (reasonable I think), he was still standing.
9. Where does Dag Griffiths' famously not go for his summer holidays?
A. Blackpool
Comments. Well remembered over half of you. A definite NO was the response when William G. Stewart suggested that Dag might go to Blackpool for his summer holidays after he named his local seaside resort in a correct answer in the show that saw him get eliminated.
10. Who's name did Paul Greasley prefix with 'The Beautiful' in the game that saw him win in series 30?
A. Jamie Lee Curtis
Comments. One correct response here, with scary alternative guesses including: Hitler and Margaret Thatcher.
11. By how many points did Mike Billson lead by before 10 were added to his score in his game in series 30?
A. Two
Comments. One of the closest games in Fifteen to One history, the master tactician nominated on the last question to win as a result of the number of lives he had left over at the end of rounds 1 and 2. Only one incorrect answer for this one.
12. Who won the show when Dag Griffiths got knocked out?
A. Graham Townsend
Comments. With hindsight, probably too tough a question. No correct answers.
13. Who won the show that is featured in the theme music available on this site?
A. Peter Miller
Comments. No correct answers again, although he did win again in his return appearance on 11 January 2001.
14. Of the five players that have made final three's in grand finals, but have not become champions in 2000, which three have yet to be featured in questions or answers in this quiz?
A. David Albinson, Dave Berry and Russell Turner.
Comments. Can be worked out by process of elimination if you correctly answered question 6.
15. In the final three's of the Grand finals in 2000, (in terms of distance from William G. Stewart), which position has produced the most champions (nearest / middle / furthest)?
A. Furthest
Comments. Of the three grand finals in 2000, both Les Arnott and Dag Griffiths stood furthest away from William G. Stewart when they won.
And The winner is: Rob Shone from Cardiff! - 9 out of 15
2nd: Christian Lloyd from the University of East Anglia - 6 out of 15
3rd=: Dave Wakefield from Walsall - 5 out of 15
3rd=: Peter Ediss from Seaford in East Sussex - 5 out of 15
5th: Laura Harmes form Oxfordshire - 2 out of 15
Thank you all for taking part, we hope you enjoyed the quiz.
