Whitaker's Almanack Champions' Challenge

The Whitaker's Almanack Champions' Challenge is an invitation quiz competition held each year at the British Library, featuring many of the top quiz players in the United Kingdom.

The inaugural competition in 1998 was won by Daphne Fowler. The 1999 challenge saw victory for four times Fifteen to One Champion Nick Terry.

Other competitors have included Mal Collier and Mike Billson

Gyles Brandreth was the host in 1998 and 1999.

Champions' Challenge to be staged again.

Following the success of last year's Whitaker's Almanack Champions' Challenge, The Stationery Office will be organising a repeat performance in Novemeber. Last year's winner, retired secretary and former Brain of Britain, Daphne Fowler, has confirmed that she will defend her title against a new panel of quiz-masters and general knowledge gurus. The event will take place at the British Library on Sunday 7 November and we are confident of another fantastic display of learned aptitude and trivial wisdom from the country's leading general knowledge experts.

Gyles Brandreth will be hosting proceedings and will be posing the questions, assembled exclusively from the pages of the new edition, Whitaker's Almanack 2000.
